Walking the Himalayas

Tashi Delek.

From 16 August 2021, I am travelling through the Himalayas starting from Ladakh in the west and ending in Arunachal in the East.

The Chinese aggression across the Indian Himalayas and a series of climate disasters have left Himalayan people shocked.

I would like to bring about the Tibet connect in the Himalayas, language, culture, Buddhism and the people to people contacts.

The five legs of the journey are:
1. Ladakh- Leh, Choglamsar, Nubra, Kargil, Zanskar
2. Himachal- Lahaul, Spiti, Kinnaur
3. Uttrakhand- Kumaon and Ghadwal
4. Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Gangtok
5. Arunachal- Bomdila, Tawang, Itanagar

What I plan to do is carry this film “Escape of the Dalai Lama from Tibet”, produced by Mumbai-based Rangrez Films for Epic TV channel. It’s an 80min film in Hindi. And screen wherever possible in villages, markets, schools, civil society, anywhere. I will be travelling with a projector, soundbox and a bedsheet screen.

Wherever possible I can conduct a ‘Creative Writing Workshop’ for local youths.
